May 31, 2026 - A number of Lutheran and other disaster relief organizations joined Resurrection Lutheran - Spartanburg, our church plant, to bring people still recovering from Hurricane Helene necessary items for daily living, along with a good dose of hope and faith.
The free community market was set up on May 30th. They came for the free shoes and socks, flood buckets, heaters and fans, and book bags for kids. They left knowing there was a Christian community that cared for them--providing everything from a Comfort Dog's wet nose to the comfort of a vicar's words of encouragement and faith, to the comfort of a free handmade quilt (some of those quilts looked very familiar!).
Here's an article from Lutheran Church Charities. Be sure to take a look at these three videos from LCC that sum up the day: LCC Deployment; LCC Volunteers Share Joy, Care in Spartanburg, SC; and Helping Spartanburg Find Hope and Wholeness.
Thanks to those who came out to support Resurrection and the local community.
